Perhaps the most important requirement for a ticketing system is being able to confirm with the bank in real-time that a customer's banking ID is valid, and then proceeding to debit the customer's account when tickets are purchased with a credit card or ATM card. Using an embedded computer located onsite is a big benefit since the embedded computer can communicate directly with the local devices. This is an actual case study from Taiwan. The customer installed the Moxa UC-8410 RISC-based industrial embedded computer, which features 3 LAN ports for network redundancy. One port connects to banking ID approval system, and the other port links to an IPC. the UC-8410 is also equipped with 8 serial ports for managing peripheral devices, such as an LCM for display, a card reader, and a keyboard for the customer to input ordering requests.
